International cooperation to reduce the risk of natural calamities

Brazil is grateful for the aid offers and solidarity messages from numerous countries, institutions and international organizations, with whom it will continue to cooperate to mitigate the effects of the torrential rains and floods that have recently affected many Brazilian towns. 

The Brazilian Government reiterates its commitment to international cooperation on sustainable actions to reduce the risk of calamities and on strengthening the capability to prevent and recover from disasters.

The Brazilian Government will strive for the National Alert and Prevention System for Natural Disasters, to be coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Technology, to start mitigating the effects of natural disasters in the coming summer season.
