The Brazilian government has received, with sorrow, news of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale that struck the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China and Nepal. Thus far, more than 100 deaths have been reported.
While extending condolences to the families of the victims and expressing hopes for the swift recovery of the injured, the Brazilian government conveys its solidarity to the governments and peoples of the People’s Republic of China and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.
The consular hotlines of the Embassy of Brazil in Beijing (+8613801210722) and the Embassy of Brazil in Kathmandu (+9779801032381) are available to assist Brazilian nationals in emergency situations. The general consular hotline of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs can also be reached at +55 (61) 98260-0610. So far, there have been no reports of Brazilian nationals among the victims.
