Deaths of the President and Foreign Minister of Iran

The Brazilian government has received with deep sorrow the news of the deaths of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and other officials of the country, resulting from a helicopter crash that occurred yesterday, May 19th, in the interior of the country. The fatalities were confirmed this morning in an official statement by the Iranian Council of Ministers.

The Brazilian government extends its most sincere condolences and solidarity to the families of President Raisi, Foreign Minister Abdollahian, and the other victims, as well as to the government and people of Iran, for their irreplaceable losses.
