PRESS RELEASE NO.531
Death of Brazilian infant in Lebanon
The Brazilian government has learned, with deep sorrow and consternation, of the death in Beirut of one-year-old Brazilian infant Fatima Abbas, who was the victim of an Israeli attack on November 2 in the suburb of Hadeth, in the south of the Lebanese capital.
The conflict in Lebanon has, to date, resulted in the confirmed deaths of three Brazilian nationals, all of whom were minors and victims of Israeli attacks.
The Brazilian government expresses its deepest condolences and solidarity to the family of Fatima Abbas. It also reaffirms its rejection, in the strongest terms, of the continued and unjustified Israeli air strikes against civilian areas in Lebanon and renews its call to the parties to the conflict to immediately cease hostilities.
