PRESS RELEASE N. 235
Colombia opens its market for coconut seeds
The Brazilian government welcomed the announcement by the government of Colombia of a sanitary approval authorizing Brazil to export coconut seeds to that country.
This is the fifth market opening in Colombia in a year, adding to the authorizations for Brazilian exports of hydrolyzed chicken protein, oils and fats from pork, flour and oil from fish.
In 2023, Colombia imported more than $1.37 billion in agricultural products from Brazil.
This announcement marks the 62nd market opening by the Brazilian agribusiness sector this year, totaling 140 openings in 51 countries since the beginning of President Lula's term.
The opening of this new market is the result of joint efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).
