The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture congratulate actress Fernanda Torres for having received the 2025 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama yesterday, for her performance in the film Ainda estou aqui, directed by Walter Salles, making her the first Brazilian to earn this honor.
One of the most prestigious distinctions in the world, the Golden Globes have been awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to film and television professionals since 1944.
This award further promotes Brazilian cinema abroad, just as occurred with the Palme d’Or awarded to O Pagador de Promessas at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival, and with the Golden Globe awarded to Central do Brasil in 1999.
In addition to highlighting Fernanda Torres’s talent, this latest international recognition of Brazilian cinema shows that Brazil produces films of the highest quality and underscores the importance of strategically promoting Brazilian culture around the world.
