The Brazilian Government expresses its grave concern over the attacks on foreign diplomatic missions that took place today, January 28, in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including the Brazilian Embassy, from which the Brazilian flag was removed and taken away by demonstrators.
Neither the Chargé d’Affaires nor the staff of the Brazilian Embassy in Kinshasa were harmed in the incident.
Recalling the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic missions and the active obligation of the host country to ensure the protection of mission personnel and facilities, in accordance with international law, Brazil trusts that the Congolese Government will make every effort to bring the situation under control.
