Attack on Metrojet flight 9268

The Brazilian Government is dismayed by the confirmation today, by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), that the crash of Metrojet flight 9268 on October 31, on Egyptian territory, was the result of a terrorist attack. The attack, for which the self-styled “Islamic State” claims responsibility, caused the deaths of all 224 passengers and crew.

The Brazilian Government condemns the attack in the strongest terms, and reiterates its condemnation of all forms of terrorism. Brazil conveys its condolences to the families of the victims and to the governments and peoples of the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the Republic of Belarus, and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
