Irrigation
Brazil currently irrigates approximately 8.5 million hectares, and according to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR), there is potential for 55 million hectares of irrigated area in the country. Irrigation is a technology that provides water artificially to plants, in the right quantity and quality for the development of agricultural crops. The Irrigated Agriculture Centers initiative is an integral part of the actions for implementing the National Irrigation Policy (NIP) and for promoting regional development under the MIDR.
