Wi-Fi Brazil Program
The Electronic Government Program — Citizen Assistance Service (GESAC), created by Ordinance MC nº 256, of March 13, 2002, is managed by the Ministry of Communications (MCom) and offers access to internet connection services, with the goal of promoting digital and social inclusion, as well as encouraging electronic government actions for the population.
GOALS
The GESAC Program has the following goals:
... promoting digital inclusion by providing broadband internet connection, including in locations with no adequate offer of internet connection;
... supporting communities in a state of social vulnerability, located in rural and remote areas, and in the urban periphery, offering access to internet connection services, promoting digital and social inclusion and encouraging e-government actions;
... expanding the offer of broadband internet access to public institutions, with priority given to remote and border regions;
... supporting government agencies in e-government actions; and
... helping expand internet access in line with other government programs.
CATEGORIES
There are two GESAC Program categories:
GESAC Internet Point — installed in specific locations, such as public institutions, schools, libraries, telecenters, health units, quilombola communities, indigenous villages, rural settlements and others.
GESAC Livre (includes router) — normally installed in public squares with free access to the general public.

The initiative does not receive funding from the Worker's Support Fund (FAT).
REVENUE WAIVER
The action does not result in the waiver of revenues.
Where is the GESAC Program?
Currently, the program has over 17 thousand active points, installed in schools, Basic Health Units (UBS), public security and service units, as well as in traditional communities located in remote and border areas, or in points of strategic interest.
To request the service, access the link "obtain GESAC internet connection" and fill out the form. The program offers citizens access to broadband internet connection services, both via satellite and terrestrial, free of charge.
Servicing the requests depends on technical analysis, in addition to contract and financial availability. If the request is approved, the time estimated for the services to be provided is between 60 and 90 days.
