Flying to Lansing: flying into Detroit (DTW) and taking the Michigan Flyer (https://www.michiganflyer.com/) or renting a car. It is usually the best option. Flying to Lansing is usually more expensive and/or has fewer options.
Getting here: There are several ways to get to Michigan State. The most common way is to fly into the Detroit airport (DTW) which is a major hub for Delta and has a large number of flights. From DTW there are two main ways to get to the East Lansing, the home of MSU. One is to take the well-run coach service – Michigan Flyer (http://michigan.flyer.com/). This drops you off in the center of East Lansing from which you can get a short Uber/Lyft to your hotel. The second option from DTW is to rent a car. The drive is about 1h15m. The Flyer takes somewhat longer because it has two stops along the way. A less common way is to fly to the Lansing airport, which is closer, but has many fewer flights. It is a 20 minute or so drive from the Lansing airport to the hotels in East Lansing. Even rarer options include the once a day Amtrak train from downtown Chicago to East Lansing, or driving from other airports.
Accommodation: The meeting is at a fairly dead time at MSU, so hotels should be easy to get. We have reserved some rooms at the Town Place Suites East Lansing, but you can choose others if you want. If you would like to use the rooms we have reserved, please email Jenn Roberts (millarje@msu.edu). Note that because our building is at the very center of campus, all hotels are about a mile away. You can walk, drive, Uber, etc, or some combination depending on the weather, personal preference, etc. If you do drive, you’ll need to use a pay lot.
