Women and girls have free admission and a special trail on March 8th
On March 8 - International Women's Day - women and girls will be able to enter the Garden free of charge, simply by showing ID at the ticket office. There will also be a free Women's Trail, which explores feminine elements in the Garden represented by sculptures, plants and spaces in the Arboretum.
The tour also highlights the role of women in the history of the Botanical Garden. Researchers Maria Bandeira and Graziela Maciel Barroso are examples of pioneering female participation in scientific research at the institution and in Brazil.
Among the plants on the trail are Vitória Régia, Fruta-pão and Peroba-candeira. Another attraction is the Clarice Lispector Space, created in honor of the writer who was a regular visitor to the Botanical Garden and praised it through her chronicles and short stories.
The trail will leave at 10am and 2pm from the Visitor Center. There is no need to sign up.
Access via Rua Jardim Botânico, 1008.
