The Children's Trail is an attraction at the Rio Botanical Garden in October
In the month of Children's Day (October 12), the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden will be offering a special guided trail for kids. On October 4, 11, 12 and 25, the Children's Trail will present plants, monuments and landscapes to tell, in a playful and entertaining way, the history and importance of the Rio Botanical Garden, and what the institution's researchers do. The route includes the bust of Dom João, the Garden's founder, the brazilwood tree, the species that gave our country its name, the children's playground and others.
The Children's Trail starts at the Visitors' Center and passes by other highlights of the arboretum, such as the kapok tree, the imperial palms, the Frei Leandro Lake and the sensory garden. In this space, children will have a multi-sensory experience, interacting with plants of different shapes, sizes, colors, scents and textures.
The tour is an opportunity for children to have fun and learn about the importance of preserving the environment.
The trail is free, starts at 10 a.m. and lasts one hour. There is only an entrance fee for the arboretum.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office (in cash) or at jbrj.eleventickets.com with a pix or credit card.
Students, people with disabilities and people over 60 are entitled to half-price tickets on presentation of a supporting document. Children up to 5 years old are free.
