Songbook Cello Trio to perform at Domingo no Jardim on June 9th
Formed by Aleska Chediak on cello, Renan Francioni on piano and Zé Luiz Maia on acoustic bass, the Songbook Cello Trio will be performing a repertoire of bossa nova classics and MPB reinterpretations on Sunday in the Garden. The repertoire includes compositions by Tom Jobim, Carlos Lyra, Edu Lobo, Jacob do Bandolim and Hermeto Pascoal, among others.
The Songbook Cello Trio is part of a project by Aleska Chediak that refers to the acclaimed Songbook series, conceived and produced by her father, music producer Almir Chediak. The performance takes place on June 9 at 11 a.m., next to the bust of Dom João, and is free of charge (visitors only pay for the ticket to the arboretum). In the event of rain, the performance will be moved to the Galpão das Artes.
A cellist from Rio de Janeiro, Aleska has played at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and the CCBB in Lisbon, among others. Recently, she recorded for TV Globo's The Voice Brasil, accompanying the candidates and the show's judges, such as percussionist and singer Carlinhos Brown, Mumuzinho and Daniel. In 2023 and this year, he recorded for the new single and album by the vocal group Boca Livre.
A multi-instrumentalist, arranger and composer, Renan Francioni has been gaining ground in the jazz, instrumental music and MPB scene in the city of Rio de Janeiro. He has already shared the stage with instrumentalists such as Maurício Einhorn and Renato Massa Calmon. He took part in the album “Quartets - A tribute to the music of Corea”, released in 2021.
Zé Luiz Maia has been playing acoustic and electric bass since 1986 and has accompanied and recorded with artists such as Kleiton and Kledir, João Nogueira, Martinho da Vila, Elza Soares, Luiz Melodia, Angela Ro Ro, Fátima Guedes, Gilson Peranzzetta, Wagner Tiso, Paulo Moura, Maurício Einhorn and Bibi Ferreira.
