The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute (JBRJ) and Alliança Saúde have signed a cooperation agreement, which provides for the investment of R$ 3.6 million in activities of the Center for Social and Environmental Responsibility (CRS) and for the dissemination of knowledge and actions of mutual interest. The symbolic milestone of this signing took place on Monday, May 22nd, at the headquarters of the presidency of the JBRJ. The partnership foresees the maintenance of the activities of the CRS, environmental conservation, and the promotion of health and well-being.
The work plan for the next three years includes professional training and scientific initiation for young people aged 15 to 18 who live in situation of socioeconomic risk. Cultural programs are also planned to promote health, well-being and environmental conservation within the Botanical Garden. The scientific dissemination actions already carried out by the Botanical Garden will be strengthened by the partnership. For Isabella Tanure, vice-president of the board of directors of Alliança Saúde, the actions are fundamental:
"We know that a healthy society is one that invests in prevention, care, and well-being, not only human, but animal and environmental. This broad concept of health guides our partnership with the Botanical Garden and inspires our purpose with this sponsorship: for the health of all, we are taking care of those who can take care of the planet," says Isabella, stressing that, as a carioca, she is very proud of the Botanical Garden and that now she can contribute to initiatives that reinforce its relevance.
In addition, the partnership includes free events for the public, such as musical concerts, artistic workshops, and collaborative activities inside the Garden's arboretum. Part of the activities will be carried out with the support of the Association of Friends of the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro.
"Alliança Saúde is living a new phase, in which it expands its presence and services beyond diagnosis. Focused on integral health and the promotion of well-being, our vision found, in this partnership with the Botanical Garden, total harmony. We are extremely happy to be able to contribute to the maintenance of this historical, touristic, and environmental heritage, promoting a positive impact on the lives of the young people who benefit from the Center for Social and Environmental Responsibility and their families, of the collaborators, and of all visitors", reinforces Nelson Tanure, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alliança Saúde.
The Center for Social and Environmental Responsibility of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden has been active for 34 years training young people in socially vulnerable situations for the job market and promoting citizenship, becoming a reference in the segment. More than 4 thousand students graduated in different professionalizing courses in an environment of excellence. The Center is part of the National School of Tropical Botany (ENBT), a directorate of the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro, responsible for post-graduate programs, extension courses, environmental education, and the coordination of events for scientific dissemination and knowledge dissemination.
"When the seed is good, it blooms! Over the past thirty years, the CRS has received good seeds that have borne much fruit. Fruits of transformation, which have promoted the formation of citizens through education, professionalization, and respect for the environment. With this new partnership, new seeds are being planted, making us believe that many more good fruits will be harvested, ensuring the continuity of this project that makes us so proud. A big part of our mission is to divulge science and disseminate the knowledge produced here, and having Alliança Saúde as a partner in this mission will certainly expand our reach immensely", says the President of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute, Eliezer de Sousa Nunes.
The partnership program of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden intends to expand the scope of its activities and achieve strategies agreed upon at the national and international levels, reaching a level of excellence in science, culture, tourism and environmental education.
