Rio Botanical Garden's main ticket office is refurbished and has a counter for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility
After undergoing architectural renovations, the ticket office at the main entrance to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, located at 1008 Rua Jardim Botânico, has been expanded and has an exclusive counter for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. The place has an access ramp with a guardrail and suitable handrails. In addition, an access walkway was built with wider circulation spaces for wheelchairs, in order to make it easier for elderly people to get around. The work was carried out by the Coordination of Engineering, Restoration and Maintenance (Cerma).
- The renovation represents the Rio Botanical Garden's commitment to inclusion and sustainability. The changes not only meet regulatory requirements, but also promote a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors - said Cerma coordinator Marcelo Ferreira.
The ticket office also received new lighting with LED technology, which helps to reduce energy consumption, and new furniture, providing a welcoming, efficient and functional environment. In addition, materials were reused, saving around 5% of the estimated cost of the refurbishment.
- The use of reused materials not only contributes to the preservation of natural resources, but also reflects our institution's mission to be an example of good environmental practices - Ferreira concluded, pointing out that the second stage of the works includes tactile and visual signage for the site.
