November's highlight, the African Trail will have special departures on Black Awareness Day
This November, the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden is offering guided tours of the African Trail every Friday at 10am, as part of the Friday Trails series.
In addition, the Trail will also be offered on Monday, November 20 - Black Awareness Day, with departures at two times: 10am and 2pm.
The guided tour is free of charge and there is only an entrance ticket to the arboretum. The meeting point is the Visitor Center. No prior booking is necessary.
The African Trail is represented by 19 species in the arboretum. Some are native to Brazil, while others came from Africa and other tropical regions around the world and have been used by various African peoples and their descendants since they arrived here. Among the species that can be seen are the flamboyant (Delonix regia), native to Madagascar, and the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis), native to the west coast of Africa, from Senegal to Angola.
Tickets for the Botanical Garden can be purchased at the box office (in cash) or at jbrj.eleventickets.com.
