March is the month of the Endangered Species Trail
The Friday Trails attraction in March is the Endangered Species Trail, organized and presented by the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden's Environmental Education Service. Visitors will be able to see specimens of Brazilian plant species that are at risk of disappearing and are therefore the target of conservation actions.
Among the 17 species highlighted are, for example, the pink cedar (Cedrela odorata), the jacarandá-caviúna (Dalbergia nigra) and the pink jequitibá (Cariniana legalis), which are widely exploited for their wood; and also the Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa) and the juçara palm (Euterpe edulis). The trail information was provided by the National Center for Flora Conservation (CNCFlora).
Departures will be on March 1, 15 and 29, always at 10 a.m.
