I Rio-São Paulo Botanical Meeting will be held at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden
The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute will host, from June 8 to 10, 2023, the I Rio-São Paulo Botanical Conference. Promoted by the Botanical Society of Brazil, the event's theme is "Botany in non-formal spaces: awakening the passion for plants". Registration is open, and professionals and undergraduate and graduate students can participate. Places are limited.
The activities include lectures, such as "Conserving in situ or ex-situ", "List of threatened plant species: how are they made and what are they used for?" and "Botanical gardens as a tool to awaken the passion for plants", and mini-courses on medicinal plants and non-conventional food, cultivation and taxonomy of bromeliads, among others. Workshops are also planned, such as monitored visits to the rare works collection of the Barbosa Rodrigues Library/JBRJ and to the social-environmental project of the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro.
The submission of papers can be done until next March 31. There are several thematic areas, such as structural botany, physiology, molecular biology and plant biotechnology, history and botanical collections, among others.
