Grupo Galo Preto performs at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden this Sunday (26)
The choro group Galo Preto is the attraction of the Domingo no Jardim project, which happens this Sunday (November 26), at 11 am, in the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. Formed by Afonso Machado (mandolin, arrangements and musical direction), José Maria Braga (flute), Tiago Machado (guitar) and Magno Júlio (pandeiro), the group will show a little of its history since its creation in 1975. The repertoire includes compositions by Nelson Cavaquinho (A flor e o espinho), Paulinho da Viola (Meu tempo de garoto, made especially for the group), Tom Jobim (Flor do mato, also composed for Galo), among others.
The son of former Botanical Garden researcher Raul Machado, the founder of Galo Preto, Afonso Machado, says the performance will be special.
- My father worked at the Botanical Garden all his life, and it's always a thrill to be there. It will be a special show - says the musician.
The performance will take place in the space next to the bust of Dom João. The show is free. Visitors only pay the entrance fee to the arboretum.
