Father's Day to the sound of violins in Rio's Botanical Garden
How about celebrating Father's Day to the sound of violins in Rio's Botanical Garden? The violin ensemble Os Pequenos Mozart, made up of children and young people, is the attraction of this Sunday in the Garden ( August 11). The young musicians perform in costumes inspired by the period clothing of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who lived in the 18th century. The repertoire ranges from classics to popular Brazilian music. The concert is free, at 11 a.m. in front of the bust of Dom João. Visitors only pay the entrance fee to the arboretum. In the event of rain, the performance will be moved to the Galpão das Artes.
Under the artistic direction of violinist Suray Soren, from the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater Symphony Orchestra, the group, created more than 20 years ago, has already performed in theaters, museums and music festivals in various cities around the country and the world. Special appearances include a concert by classical-pop violinist Vanessa Mae, as well as a performance for Pope Francis at the Vatican in 2018.
