Ecological restoration, ecosystem services and biodiversity conservation in focus at the second edition of the Biodiversity Forum
Next Tuesday, June 11, the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden will hold the 2nd edition of the “Biodiversity Forum” at the Botanical Garden Museum. The monthly meeting, which aims to broaden the debate and disseminate knowledge about biodiversity conservation, climate emergencies and other related issues, will this month welcome Professor Jerônimo Sansevero, from the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ).
Sansevero, who also coordinates UFRRJ's Applied Ecology Laboratory (LEAp), will talk about issues such as ecological restoration, ecosystem services and biodiversity conservation, topics he has investigated extensively in his research, teaching and extension projects.
The activity, aimed at specialists, researchers, students and interested people, takes place at 2:30 p.m. in the museum's Multipurpose Room. Admission is free. There are 50 seats, on a first-come, first-served basis. The forum will also be broadcast live on JBRJ's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/jardimbotanicodoriodejaneiro).
Conceived by a curatorial board made up of specialists from the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute, the “Biodiversity Forum” is a monthly activity of the Botanical Garden Museum and each edition features the participation of a specialist to present reflections, research results and studies from publications on biodiversity conservation.
Jerônimo Sansevero is a professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) and coordinator of the Applied Ecology Laboratory - LEAp. He works in research, teaching and extension in the areas of ecological restoration, management and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
