Domingo no Jardim presents violinist Guilherme Pimenta on May 5th
Born in Minas Gerais and based in Rio de Janeiro since 2014, violinist and composer Guilherme Pimenta has been making a name for himself on the instrumental scene and is performing at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden this Sunday ( May 5). Accompanied by Victor Ribeiro (7-string guitar) and Lourenço Vasconcellos (drums), the musician will take the audience on a tour of various musical genres, performing his own songs and those of well-known composers.
"I moved to Rio de Janeiro at the end of 2014 and began to be influenced by all the culture that pulses in this extremely musical, chaotic and wonderful city. I've always liked many different styles, and I believe that a more open mind can lead us to broader paths," says the violinist.
As well as having toured Europe, the United States and Latin America, Guilherme Pimenta has released three albums and won several awards, such as best instrumental music performer at the Rádio MEC Music Festival. He has performed as a guest soloist with groups such as the Época de Ouro ensemble, the Geraes Big Band and the ProArte Wind Orchestra.
The concert takes place in front of the bust of Dom João, in the arboretum, at 11 a.m. In the event of rain, the performance will be moved to the Galpão das Artes.
