Coroá Choir performs at Sunday in the Garden on March 17
This Sunday, March 17, the Coroá Choir will be performing in the space in front of the bust of D. João, at 11am.
The group's name was inspired by a bromeliad from the Caatinga, popularly known as caroá (Neoglaziovia burlemarxii Leme), "a healing and beautiful plant, just like Music", explains the group on its website. The repertoire is based on the sound of Brazil's intangible cultural heritage and is entirely dedicated to Brazilian songs.
Since its inception in 2005, the choir has been conducted and musically directed by Ignez Perdigão, a teacher, instrumentalist and arranger who is now linked to the Portable Music School and Casa do Choro, and assisted by Evelyne Garcia and Ruy de Oliveira.
In the event of rain, it will be moved to the Galpão das Artes. The concert is free, and there is only a ticket charge for the Arboretum.
