Conversation roundtable at the Botanical Garden Museum celebrates International Day of Black Latin American and Caribbean Women
This Saturday, July 27, the “Cultivating Ideas” activity welcomes Deborah Tavares, coordinator of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden's Socio-Environmental Responsibility Center (CRS), and environmental scientist Gisele Moura, coordinator of the Sustainable Favela Network's management team, for a conversation about good living and environmental care. The meeting will take place in the multipurpose room of the Botanical Garden Museum at 3 p.m.
This edition of Cultivating Ideas celebrates the International Day of Black Latin American and Caribbean Women (July 25), and addresses the appreciation of ancestral knowledge as important social technologies for the conservation of biodiversity.
Deborah Tavares, from Rio de Janeiro, has been a public manager at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute for 22 years, working in the area of partnerships, projects and management processes. A graduate of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), mother of three, concerned about working on activities aimed at developing a fairer and more equitable society, Deborah coordinates the JBR's Socio-Environmental Responsibility Center (CRS), which promotes the training of young people aged between 15 and 18 from the public school system and in a situation of socio-economic vulnerability, increasing the insertion of this public into the job market. She also proposed and coordinated the Botanical Garden's First Black Awareness Week and is a member of the Gender, Race, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, representing the JBRJ at the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.
