Coastal Marine Biome expands its presence in the Catalog of Plants of Brazil's PAs
The Catalogue of Plants in Brazil's Protected Areas ends 2024 with 45 published lists of protected area species. This year, the Coastal Marine biome had its presence expanded with the lists of the environmental protection areas (APA) for sustainable use of the Costa das Algas (ES), the São Pedro and São Paulo Archipelago (Northeast) and the North Coast (SP), the Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park (PE), the Arraial do Cabo Marine Extractive Reserve (RJ) and the Atol das Rocas Biological Reserve (RN).
One difficulty detected by the researchers in drawing up these lists was the lack of testimonial material in national herbaria for most of the taxa identified. For this reason, lists of species without herbarium records were also included for these PAs.
