Botanical Garden Museum promotes activity in celebration of International Photography Day
To celebrate the International Day of Photography, celebrated on August 19, this month's edition of the “Cultivating Ideas” activity will focus on nature photography, through a round table discussion with João Quental, a teacher and nature photographer who specializes in recording birds.
The images of Quental, who has taught nature photography courses in the landscapes of the Amazon, the Cerrado and the Atlantic Forest, illustrate various publications on birds in Brazil and abroad. The photographer is also responsible for the official records of the Association of Friends of the Botanical Garden (AAJB) and for the photos in the book “Flowers of the Botanical Garden”, written by Cecília Beatriz da Veiga, which accompanies the garden's flowering calendar.
The chat, which takes place on August 19, in the Museum's Multipurpose Room, at 2:30 p.m., will be followed by a walk through the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Arboretum, where the guest will provide participants with practical tips. The activity is aimed at photographers and others interested in the subject and has 30 places, which will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation is free of charge.
Cultivating Ideas” is a monthly program of conversation circles, lectures and chats with specialists, with the aim of fostering dialogue between diverse communities.
