Friday, October 4
10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Cultivating Ideas: Children and Nature, with Julia Porto (educator)
Program in reference to Children's Month
What can be learned from involvement with nature in early childhood? Kicking off the special Children's Month program, the October edition of Cultivating Ideas welcomes educator Julia Porto for a chat about children's relationship with biodiversity. During the activity, the guest will also conduct a practical experience with the aim of inspiring teachers and educators to stimulate children's connection with nature by exploring their senses.
Venue: Multipurpose Room
Audience: teachers, educators, art educators and other interested parties

Saturday, October 5th
9 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Cognitive Sensory Tour with MJB Educators
On Saturdays, we reserve an exclusive time slot for people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities and their companions, in accordance with Municipal Law No. 6.278. Between 9am and 10am, the public will find sound adaptations and the inclusion of sensory objects in the exhibitions, with the aim of balancing the stimuli and favoring a more peaceful visit for everyone. During this period, the cognitive sensory visit takes place, an activity that invites participants to experience the Museum's exhibitions and facilities through a multi-sensory approach, enriched by materials specially developed for this experience.

Audience: people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities and their companions

10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Educational Tour: In search of the lost tree, with MJB Educators
An educational tour of the Museum's exhibitions and facilities, with a focus on children. During the activity, participants are invited to unravel riddles and clues to discover the great tree hidden in the exhibition space.

Audience: children aged 5 to 12

2pm to 3pm - Educational Visit: From the forest to the laboratory, with MJB Educators
A mediated experience through the Museum's spaces, presenting the scientific work of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden's researchers, as well as the books, stories and references that inspire our exhibitions and installations. The visit takes in the long-term exhibition “Much more than a garden”; the temporary exhibition “Mbae Kaá, o que tem na mata: Barbosa Rodrigues between plants and shamans”; and also includes installations by Denilson Baniwa, an artist and indigenous rights activist.

Audience: children of all ages, families and visitors in general

Tuesday, October 8th
2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Biodiversity Forum: Digital Sequence Information and Biological Collections and Biobanks, with Manuela da Silva (General Manager of Fiocruz's Biodiversity and Health Biobank)
The sixth edition of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden's Biodiversity Forum takes place next Tuesday, October 8. This month's guest is Manuela da Silva, General Manager of the Biodiversity and Health Biobank at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), who will discuss the topic: Digital Sequence Information and Biological Collections and Biobanks.
Venue: Multipurpose Room
Audience: specialists, researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and people interested in the subject
