Botanical Garden Museum has special program in April
During the month of April, the Botanical Garden Museum has a program full of cultural and educational activities.
Check out the activities below:
April 6, 13, 20 and 27 - From the forest to the laboratory| 10:30 and 24:30
Come and see the Botanical Garden Museum on a guided tour of the exhibitions. Presenting the JBRJ as a research center, the tour shows what goes on inside the laboratories. In an experience full of sensory stimuli, visitors will be able to understand how this work has a direct impact on the conservation of species. The activity starts in the reception room and places are limited to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
April 7 - Flying Rivers| 3pm
Running through the land and flying through the air. Have you ever heard of flying rivers? Through a storytelling inspired by the book "Um rio um pássaro", by philosopher Ailton Krenak, the activity will present the phenomenon of flying rivers and the importance of trees in this process. Using playful elements, the storytelling will show the author's travels through the lands of Ashaninka, Katukina, Yawanawá, Yanomami, Macuxi and Huni Kuin. The children's activity takes place in the reading room and places are limited to 15 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
April 14 - Semear| 10:30 a,m
Using music and transformable materials, this workshop for babies will bring a storytelling full of Brazilianness. The activity, which takes place in the multipurpose room, is aimed at children aged 0 to 3 and places are limited to 15 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
April 18 - Biodiversity Forum| 14:30 p.m
With a series of monthly meetings dealing with biodiversity issues, on the 18th the Botanical Garden Museum is hosting a talk followed by a round table discussion: "Naturalists of the 21st Century: botany and conservation to face contemporary global challenges", with Gustavo Martinelli (general coordinator of CNCFlora) and Eduardo Fernandez (coordinator of the Flora Conservation Status Assessment Center - NuAC). The activity takes place in the multipurpose room and places are limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
April 19 - Cultivating ideas| 10:30 am
In a series of roundtables, lectures and chats with experts, the 'Cultivating Ideas' activity seeks to bring dialogue about diverse communities. On Indigenous Peoples' Day, there will be a round table discussion on the role of ethnobotany in supporting collaborative and intercultural research in the Brazilian Amazon, with ethnobotany researcher Viviane Stern da Fonseca-Kruel, curator of the Thematic Collection of Medicinal Plants at JBRJ. The activity aims to promote reflection and discussion on the support that ethnobotany offers in collaborative and intercultural research in the Amazon region of Brazil, to recognize the importance of socio-biodiversity in the Amazon, as well as sophisticated indigenous knowledge, and to integrate different perspectives and the appreciation of cultural diversity in scientific research. The activity will be held in the multipurpose room and places are limited to 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
April 21- Art and nature workshop| 3pm

April 27 and 28- Planting stories: Umbuzeiro| 15h
Using drawings and extensive use of the imagination, visitors will tell a visual narrative about the sacred tree of the caatinga, the Umbuzeiro. The activity will take place in the garden space for everyone and places are limited to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
