Bilateral, Regional, and Multilateral Activities
The world’s industrial property institutes are cooperating more and more to fight the challenges that arise on the international scenario. For this reason, formal instruments between these entities are created to seal common commitments.
In Brazil, there are cases in which the Federal Government itself can undertake commitments in the field of intellectual property, with the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property - INPI having the executing role. There are other cases in which INPI directly outlines its general lines of action towards institutions that are similar or correlated with respect to their purposes.
The inter-institutional instruments of understanding signed by INPI can be of two types: Memoranda of Understanding or Cooperation Agreements, which unfold in work plans or technical guidelines in order to offer activities such as seminars, courses, exchange of information, or even special pilot projects, such as the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPHs).
Below there is a list containing the international inter-institutional instruments of understanding for purposes of training, exchange of information, among other actions aimed at a more active role of INPI in favor of generating business among users of the system.
