Access to Systems
Through this page, the Brazilian INPI provides answers to the most frequent questions about how to access to the Office’s systems.

How to create username and/or password on INPI’s portal?
When signing in the system, pay attention to uppercase or lowercase differentiation. The username shall have a maximum of 10 digits.
How to recover username and/or password?
When accessing INPI’s portal, select the icon Costs and Payment, located at the Quick Access bar and click on the desired service.
On the next page, select the option “Sistema de emissão de GRU” (GRU issuance system) and click on “Esqueceu a senha? Clique Aqui” (Forgot Password? Click here).
Inform your Individual Taxpayer’s Register (CPF) number or National Corporate Taxpayers Register (CNPJ) and click on “Pesquisar” (Search).
Mark the username you will use to access the system and whose password you wish to recover and next click on “Receber por e-mail” (Receive by email).
The system shall inform the email to which the answer will be sent.
Attention!
The system differentiates uppercase from lowercase letters. The username and password may not have more than ten characters (if this is the case, type the first ten) nor special characters (in this case, access the registration and change the password).
In case of password recovery, you shall not type the dots, only the CPF/CNPJ numbers. The password received shall be used in the PAG module and not directly in the “e-Marcas” (etrademarks module).
The password generated by the system differentiates uppercase from lowercase letters and this may lead the user to error. For this reason, we recommend copying and pasting (Ctrl C + Ctrl V) the password sent.
To change the password, please access https://gru.inpi.gov.br/pag/gru/gerar and click in the upper right corner “Alterar senha” (Change password).
How to change the registration email?
Send the documents below through sistema Fale Conosco (Contact Us system) by choosing the subject “Sistema - Alteração de Cadastro - e-mail, nome...” (System – Change in Registration – email, name...):
- Identity Card (RG) or document with a photo;
- Articles of Organization or Bylaws In Full (company); if a registered individual, the Individual Taxpayer’s Register (CPF).
- Letter of consent signed by the holder of the registration (it may be handwritten), requesting the change in the email address.
The documents shall be grouped in a single PDF file with no more than 5MB. Avoid using names with space, accent marks or special characters.
Attention!
The request for inclusion or change shall only be made upon submission of all above mentioned documents.
Inform the CPF or National Corporate Taxpayers Register (CNPJ) and email to be changed in the request text.
How to change information of your registration (except username and password)?
When accessing INPI’s portal, select the icon Costs and Payment, located at the Quick Access bar and click on the desired service.
On the next page, select the option “Sistema de emissão de GRU” (GRU issuance system) and click on “Alteração de cadastro e emissão de recibo” (Change in registration and issuance of receipt).
Fill the username and password fields and click on “Acessar” (Access). When accessing the Collection Slip System, click on the client’s name, which shall be a link, i.e., underlined and colored. The system shall launch the registration page. Update the client’s data and then save the information.
The system will go back to the Brazilian Federal Revenue Collection Slip page; however it will be necessary to end the session and login again, as only by doing so the system will update the database and enable the issuance of the GRU containing the requested change.
Attention!
In the registrations with a username, only the client himself/herself can make the changes. INPI does not change usernames. Individual Taxpayer’s Register (CPF) / National Corporate Taxpayers Register (CNPJ) cannot also be changed. If they are wrong, a new registration shall be required.
How to proceed in case of problems with the certificate?
Generally, there is an option to “Proceed” (or “Details”) and go to the target website. If this option is not available, follow the instructions below.
Due to systems incompatibility, we recommend you not to access the site through Google Chrome. INPI informs that, when accessing the system, the alerts shown by the web browsers that use HTTPS technology result from issues with the digital certificates used in INPI’s electronic services.
A release including the chain of certificates from INPI’s own certifying authority, whose installation regularizes the access to the Office services, was published in the Portal. Click here to access it.
In needed, you can access the booklet also available in the release, which details the procedures required for installation in the main web browsers.
Attention!
If after downloading the certificate the message “Sua conexão não é particular” (Your connection is not private) is still shown, click on “Avançado” (Advanced) mode (on Firefox) or on "Ir para a página da web" (Go to the webpage) (on Internet Explorer). Click again on “Ir para marcas.inpi.gov.br (não seguro)” (Go to marcas.inpi.gov.br [not safe]) and redefine the settings of the browser with the problem.
How to access information of an issued GRU (monitor payment status, recover document number and issue a copy)?
Click on the icon Costs and Payment, at the Quick Access bar, and click on the desired service.
On the next page, select the option “Sistema de emissão de GRU” (GRU issuance system), insert username and password and click on “Acessar” (Access).
After logging in, on the top of the page, click on “Minhas GRUs” (My GRUs). On this page you can define a period of up to 30 days in order to do the search.
Attention!
In cases of search for GRUs by representatives, the search shall use the Individual Taxpayer’s Register (CPF) / National Corporate Taxpayers Register (CNPJ) number or the client’s name. In case of search by CPF/CNPJ, please type ONLY the numbers (with no dots and dashes).
What to do if the browser shows an error on the page?
In case of error on the website, try to clean the browser’s cache and/or use other browsers.
What is the maximum size of a file to be attached to an INPI’s system?
The maximum capacity to attach documents to messages is 5 Mb. The system will NOT allow the attachment of larger files.
