Admissions
How to apply?
The INPI Academy organizes the selection of students for its professional master’s and doctor’s degree courses, by using written tests (specific knowledge and English language), project analysis and speaking evaluation. In general, it admits applicants with an education in any areas of knowledge, favoring the interdisciplinary character of the Program.
The applicant shall prepare a research topic related to the research lines of the program, in addition to submitting a letter of acceptance of his/her future academic advisor, out of the full professors of the Program.
The admission process is annual, and it usually sticks to the following schedule:
- June-July: probable period of publication of the admission notices;
- July-August: probable period of applications;
- September-November: probable period of going through the stages of the process (written test, analysis of the curriculum and of the project, and speaking evaluation);
- February-March of the subsequent year: probable period of admission of new students.
Special students and audit students
Students interested in the Program, even if they are not bound to the PPGPI, may participate in activities as special students or as audit students.
Special students are those who are enrolled in a Brazilian postgraduate program, in any field, and wish to take individual courses in the PPGPI to earn credits required in their original courses. The students enrolled in isolated courses shall participate on a regular basis in all activities planned by the professor in charge, and shall be entitled to credits and validation of class hours and attendance when the course is completed.
Audit students are those who, as INPI’s civil servants, are qualified to take a course in the PPGPI, even if they are not taking a master’s degree or a doctor’s degree in any other institution. Their participation shall occur as that of any other student of the program, so they shall participate on a regular basis in all activities planned by the professor in charge, and shall be entitled to credits and validation of class hours and attendance when the course is completed.
To apply for courses as an audit or special student, check the specific Resolution and/or contact the Academic Service.
