General Remarks
1) The GRU must be paid before the filing of its respective petition.
2) The due date printed in the GRU does not prevail over the terms provided for in Law No. 9,279 of May 14, 1996 (Brazilian Industrial Property Law)
3) When paying the GRU, make sure you do not simply “schedule” the payment. The GRU has to be effectively paid before the petition related thereto is filed.
4) After generating your GRU, please wait up to one (1) hour before paying it.
5) Please avoid generating a GRU after 10 p.m.
6) Transfers into INPI’s account (Wire Transfer of Immediately Available Funds (TED)/ Credit Order Document (DOC)) shall not be accepted as a payment method.
7) INPI does not send GRUs or collection slips of any kind to the users by mail, email, or any other means.
8) You may send questions through the Fale Conosco (Contact us) channel, by selecting the subject Financeiro (Financial Issues).

Complementary Remarks for users of the Financial Management Integrated System (SIAFI):
10) When paying the GRU, please inform the “Nosso Número/Número de Referência” (Our Number/Reference Number) of the slip, and the correct “UG/GESTÃO” (Managing Unit/Management) of INPI: 183038/18801.
11) Each GRU needs to be appropriated in an exclusive supporting document.
12) Please inform the correct intended payment code: 72200-6 for patent-related services, 73000-9 for trademark-related services, 73500-8 for Industrial Design-related services, and 77000-0 for software registration-related services (for other types of services, contact us through the Fale Conosco (Contact us) system).
Frequently Asked Questions
1) How do I know if I am entitled to the discount offered on the prices of INPI’s services?
Discounts of up to 60% shall be offered on the amounts of INPI’s services for individuals (provided that they do not hold corporate interest in a company in the same field as the item to be registered); micro-enterprises, sole proprietors, and small-sized companies, as defined by Complementary Law No. 123 of December 14, 2006; cooperatives, as defined by Law No. 5,764 of December 16, 1971; educational and research institutions; nonprofit entities, as well as public bodies, when acting on their own account. The discount is not levied on all codes.
2) I am entitled to the discount. How do I generate my GRUs with the reduction in the amount?
The legal nature selected in your registration with INPI must be one of those entitled to the discount. If so, the slips will be automatically generated with the reduction in the amount.
3) I already have a registration with INPI, and I am entitled to the discount, but my GRUs are still being generated with their full amount; how can I use the discount?
To issue the GRUs with the discounted amount, it is necessary to change the registration of the company in our website (https://www.gov.br/inpi/pt-br). To do so, please follow the step by step below:
1) Select any of the options in the home page of the portal (trademarks, patents, industrial designs, etc.);
2) then, click on “custos e pagamento” (costs and payment);
3) Click on “Sistema de Emissão de GRU” (GRU Issuance System);
After this procedure, the System will open the page “GRU Guia de Recolhimento da União - Formulário de Login” (GRU Brazilian Federal Revenue Collection Slip - Login Form). Note, below the username and password fields, “Alteração de cadastro e emissão de recibo: clique aqui” (Change in the registration and issuance of receipt: click here). Click on the link, which will open a new GRU issuance page. On that page, fill in the username and password fields and click on “Acessar” (Access). Then, the website asks that you choose the Unit, but do not do that. Note that, in the “Cliente” (Client) field, the client is underlined and in blue. Click on the name of the client. A window with your registration data should appear. In the “Pessoa” (Legal Personality) field, check whether one of the options that are entitled to the discount has been chosen. Select the correct option and click on “salvar” (save) at the bottom of the window. Now logout of this slip generation system and login again for the data to be updated.
4) How can I generate INPI’s GRUs?
You may access INPI’s generation of slips at the top and at the bottom of this page, using a username and a password. After inserting such information, please select the “Tipo de Serviço” (Type of Service) out of the ones listed. Then, select the intended service. Fill in the other pieces of information requested and click on “Confirmar” (Confirm). Check whether the amount and the name of the service correspond to the intended service and click on “Finalizar Serviço” (Finalize Service). If you wish to rectify any data, click on “Cancelar Serviço” (Cancel Service).
5) I have made a wrong payment; can I make use of it?
Please contact the area in charge (trademarks, patents, etc.) through the Fale Conosco (Contact us) channel.
6) I have made a wrong payment and I want my money back. What should I do?

7) I have paid the GRU, but I have misplaced the “Nosso Número” (Our Number). How can I recover it?
Please send the proof of payment of the GRU through the Fale Conosco (Contact us) channel, by selecting the subject “Financeiro” (Financial Issues).
