The Library announces: Brazilian Women in Chemistry Awards 2024 - ACS & SBQ

The American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) announce that the Brazilian Women in Chemistry Awards 2024 applications are now officially open. The awards aim to promote diversity and gender equality in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in Brazil and will recognize women scientists with outstanding contributions to chemistry and related sciences.
Anyone who self-identifies as a woman is welcome to apply for the awards in one of the following three categories:

Emerging Leader in Chemistry and Related Sciences: This award will acknowledge the achievements of an outstanding young female scientist or entrepreneur in chemistry or related fields. This exceptional emerging leader must be up to 40 years old by 2023 or have not completed her doctorate for more than 10 years. In the case of maternity, for one maternity leave, two years are added to the age limit or the period after completion of the doctorate; for two or more maternity leaves, three years are added;

Leadership in the Industry: This award will acknowledge a woman working in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industries, whose research and creative innovations have led to discoveries that have contributed to commercial success and the welfare of society;

Leadership in the Academy: This award will recognize a woman with an established career in the academy whose contribution to scientific research in chemistry has a global and social impact.
The applications will be evaluated according to the weighted and specific criteria for each category. The winners will be awarded during the SBQ Women's Group Symposium, which will take place at the 47th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Chemical Society, from May 22 to 25, 2024, in the city of Águas de Lindóia - SP, Brazil. As part of the symposium program, the winners will present their achievements in the chemical sciences and related fields.
