LIBRARY INFORMATIVE: Scientific Communication and Writing Course 2023-ACS Publications
The American Chemical Society (ACS) Publications Division https://pubs.acs.org/ invites you to the fourth edition of the Scientific Communication and Writing Course!
Objectives: The efficient scientific communication is essential for the researcher and can be a differentiator in one's career. This course will cover the most crucial aspects of scientific communication and writing, including how to structure a scientific manuscript/article, with recommendations on essential points considered by editors. In this year's edition, we will take a detailed look at the use of Artificial intelligence (such as ChatGPT) for scientific writing and its impact on teaching and learning. The Open Access movement in Brazil and around the world will also be covered.
Speaker: Prof. Dr. Osvaldo Novais de Oliveira Junior, Executive Editor of the Journal ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and Director of the Institute of Physics at USP - São Carlos/SP.
Course schedule:
Class 1: The anatomy of a scientific article: an in-depth description of the various sections of an article and what they should contain. Special emphasis on abstracts.

Class 2: Strategies for learning academic English for non-native speakers and the use of artificial intelligence.
Date: November 1st, 2023 (Wednesday)

Class 3: 10 tips for writing your scientific paper.
Date: November 9th, 2023 (Thursday)
Time: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

IMPORTANT: It is a free online course designated for all scientific areas. The Zoom room has capacity for up to 3,000 simultaneous participants. after 12-09-2023, to all those who participate fully in the course (3 classes). The recordings and any attachments will also be sent to all those registered after this date (12-09).
