Spaces and Facilites
Founded in 1965, the INPE Library has 1,202.28 m² of building area and is freely accessible to the public.
PHYSICAL / DIGITAL COLLECTION
INPE's collection covers all the Institute's research areas and associated topics.
Currently, the collection consists of more than 200 thousand items, including:
- books
- e-books
- journals
- technical standards
- academic papers
- multimedia
- maps
ROOMS AND SPACES
The space for users includes:
- public computers for research
- individual and group study
- exhibition of recent acquisitions
- books and magazines for free distribution
- notice board
- library security system
- surveillance camera
- Wi-fi network
- lost and found
INDIVIDUAL/PAIR STUDY ROOM
Small room: no booking required
MEETING ROOM
Room for meetings and studies, located on the upper floor of the building, with a capacity of 21 people.
You must reserve the meeting room by e-mail (tatiana.martins@inpe.br) or by phone: (12) 3208-6916, from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.
MAP LIBRARY
The map collection includes more than 8,000 maps and satellite images.
The map library can also be used as a study room and doesn't require reservations.
PHOTOCOPY SERVICE
The Photocopy Service is offered only for publications in the collection, following the ethical principles for document reproduction, according to the Brazilian Copyright Law 9610/98.
Next to the copying machine, there is a computer which can be used for printing.
The service is free of charge, and the user must bring his/her own paper, since the Library does not provide it.
Who can use it?
This service is restricted to INPE users who have a registered institutional login.
Rules for use:
After using the photocopy service, the user must write down the printing information in the copy control that is placed next to the machine.
LOCKERS
The INPE Library provides a locker service to users so they can store their belongings while using the premises.
To access the collection, users are only allowed to carry books, notebooks, handouts, sheets, cases, calculators, notebooks, or tablets (without protective cases).
What can be kept?
The lockers are intended for the safekeeping of, backpacks, handbags, briefcases, notebook cases, and the related items.
Who can use ?
Library users and visitors during their stay in the premises .
How to use it?
1 . You need to go to the loan desk and request the use of the locker.
2. You'll receive a key with an identification corresponding to the locker number, where you will keep your belongings.
3. After keeping your belongings in the locker, you should return the key to the attendant. They will give you a keyring without a key, but with the same numerical identification as the locker, which will be under the user's responsibility.
4. For the pickup, the user must give the identification number to the desk attendant, who will give the corresponding key.
5 .After removing your belongings, you must return the key to the loan desk.
Usage rules
- Lockers may not be used to store alcoholic beverages, perishable food, toxic substances, and narcotics.
- The use of the lockers is linked to the user's permanence in the Library. The removal of belongings is mandatory the moment the user leaves the premises.
- It is forbidden to leave the Library carrying the locker key.
- The user is responsible for the copy of the keyring in his or her possession. The loss or damage to the item must be reported immediately at the reception desk.
- The user is responsible for the conservation of the locker.
- Any irregularities found in the lockers, as soon as they are noticed, must be reported so that the appropriate measures can be taken.
