Meeting the library
The INPE Library (DIBIB) is subordinated to the Coordination of Teaching, Research and Extension (COEPE), and has a specialized collection in space and terrestrial environment areas.
Since its foundation in 1965, the Library develops several actions to generate products and services that meet the specific information demands of the user community.
The INPE’ Library mission is: "To promote and make available access to technical-scientific information in the INPE's areas of activity, contributing to the generation of knowledge".
The Library is responsible for:
I - managing internal and external budget resources regarding the acquisition of bibliographic material according to the Institute's collection development policy;
II - managing bibliographic collections from their treatment to their conservation
III - providing user services: information retrieval and circulation of the bibliographic collection
IV - advising the community on the production and use of technical-scientific information;
V - managing the Institute's technical-scientific production from its collection to its dissemination; and
VI - integrating national and international systems and networks for the access and dissemination of the bibliographic collection and technical-scientific production.
