Who we are
Goals
The program was created in 1976 and focuses on teaching, research and extension activities on insects and other arthropods.
Train highly qualified personnel to work in teaching, research, and extension activities in the area of Entomology, as well as in related technical activities, meeting the demands of the public and private sectors, aiming to contribute to the advancement of knowledge about insects and other arthropods and seeking to improve the quality of human life.
Infrastructure
Entomology building
The building (no. 113) where the PPG-Ent operates is located on Campus II and has:
-1 auditorium with capacity for 60 seats.
-1 laboratory for practical classes with capacity for 15 places.
-1 laboratory for breeding insects with four small rooms.
-1 thematic laboratory.
Invertebrates Collection
The collection building (no. 112), also located on campus II, has an estimated collection of millions of invertebrates preserved in
blankets, pins, slides and in alcohol, for use in research (see http://portalcolecoes.inpa.gov.br/index.php/colecoes-de-a-a-z).
Library
The PPG-ENT secretariat has a small collection of books on Entomology.
But the INPA library with a vast collection of books, periodicals, reprints, dissertations and theses (See http://antigo.inpa.gov.br/index.php/biblioteca).
