One of the ways to do this is to improve government services, through a Recommendation developed by the OECD, which seeks to assist governments in making their public services more efficient, equitable, and user-friendly.

This paper provides a brief overview of behavioural policy instruments. Given that climate change, biodiversity loss, and related environmental issues are arguably today’s most pressing problems, we illustrate the behavioural policy instruments with examples of interventions that aim to change environmentally relevant behaviour. We conclude by reflecting on the importance of appreciating the diversity of behavioural policy instruments and highlighting that the effectiveness and ethical implications can differ across behavioural interventions.

Here we reveal maps of bodily sensations associated with different emotions using a unique topographical self-report method, in five experiments.

Meeting these challenges will mean that behavioural science is better equipped to help to build policies, products and services on stronger empirical foundations—and thereby address the world’s crucial challenges.

To date, the OECD has compiled data from over 300 institutions applying behavioural science to public policy in 63 countries, including over 200 within the governments of 56 countries. Using a mixed methods approach of surveys, interviews, and data from our online BI Units Map and Project Repository, we have generated a unique database of information about government BI functions.
