Launching of the new edition of “The State Council and the foreign policy of the Empire”

As part of the “Brasil 200 anos” Collection, the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation and the Curatorial Committee of the Bicentennial of Independence of the Chamber of Deputies jointly republish  the nine volumes of O Conselho de Estado e a política externa do Império: consultas da Seção dos Negócios Estrangeiros – 1842-1845 [The State Council and the foreign policy of the Empire: consultations of the Foreign Affairs Section].

The book gathers, in chronological order, opinions from the former Justice and Foreign Affairs Section of the State Council of the Empire. The most eminent personalities of the imperial period participated in the Council. Their opinions covered a wide range of foreign policy issues, such as treaties, borders, political alliances, consular and dynastical matters.  

The book is available in Portuguese for free download on FUNAG’s digital library. The printed version will be available soon at the Online Store.
