FUNAG publishes new issue of the CHDD Journals

FUNAG launches the 43^rd issue of Cadernos do CHDD, a journal published by its Center for Historic and Diplomatic Documentation.

This issue continues the publication of collections of documents on imperial and republican diplomacy. With regard Brazil’s foreign policy in the Plata region during the monarchy, we have selected private letters of Foreign Minister Paulino Soares de Souza, later Viscount of Uruguay, to the legations in Montevideo and Buenos Aires in 1852 and 1853. With regard to the Republican period, the theme is Brazil's participation in the mediation efforts in the Chaco War, which involved Paraguay and Bolivia. For this volume, documentation was selected from the legations in La Paz, Asunción, Buenos Aires, Santiago and Washington between 1931 and 1933.
