a. There are no formal obligations to participate in the Financial Institutions Network (FI Network). FIs within the FI Network will be invited to attend periodic meetings – BIP project calls – where transition-aligned projects within the BIP project pipeline will be presented and connections will be facilitated between project owners and interested financial institutions.
b. Projects within the BIP project pipeline are admitted once determined by the BIP Secretariat that the project satisfies the pre-established minimum project qualification parameters defined by the relevant Brazilian ministries, found here.
Despite not having any formal obligations, it is expected that FIs that join the FI Network actively engage with the Platform in several ways, such as participating in the BIP project calls, when there is interest in the projects being presented, and providing feedback on the BIP project calls, main challenges on financing and evolution of negotiations derived from BIP project pipeline.
There are no costs associated with participating in the FI Network nor the BIP project calls.
a. To indicate interest in participating, please send an email to the Secretariat (bip@bndes.gov.br) expressing your interest. The Secretariat will then send a formal invitation letter to your institution.
b. To confirm participation, the FI will respond the invitation letter expressing their intent to participate as well as identify at least one point of contact to receive Platform communications and project call invitations.
a. There is no formal agreement or commitment required.
b. Confirming receipt of the invitation letter is the only pre-requisite to participating.
a. Meetings typically last between 60-90 minutes, depending on the number of projects slated for the agenda (approximately 30 minutes per project).
b. The frequency of meetings varies based on the inflow of projects, but participants can expect at least one meeting per month.
c. Agenda for project calls should be circulated to the FI Network prior to the scheduled call.
a. Beyond the pre-identified point of contact for the institution, FIs are encouraged to include team members from their organization whose expertise and roles align with the projects on the agenda.
b. While participation is not limited by tenure or seniority, we recommend that FIs involve specialists or team members with expertise relevant to the specific projects being presented.
There are no penalties for missing meetings. Attendance is encouraged but remains flexible to accommodate varying schedules and competing priorities.
a. After the project is presented in the BIP project call and your team determined interest in a particular project that you wish to explore further from a financing/investing opportunity, it is requested that you reach out to the Secretariat (bip@bndes.org.br) expressing this interest, and the Secretariat will facilitate the connection between your FI and the project owners.
b. The participation of the Secretariat during the bilateral meetings can be requested, granted no commercially sensible information will be discussed.
a. The Working Groups will be sub-sets of the FI Network participants, with participation from MDBs/DFIs and technical groups from the relevant ministries.
b. These working groups will serve as spaces for in-depth discussions aimed at exploring solutions to barriers that hinder scaling investments. Themes for these working groups will be determined in the coming weeks but could be project- or sector-specific, or relevant across the market.
All participants are eligible to join Working Groups, subject to an invitation from the Secretariat. Invitations to join Working Groups will be extended based on the specific needs and focus of the group.
