The number of households with internet access in Brazil has increased

In 2021, the number of households with internet in Brazil reached 90% - or 65.6 million houses, against 84% in 2019. There was also an increase in rural connectivity, where the internet became a reality for 74.7 % of households, from 57.8% in 2019.
Also in 2021, of the 183.9 million people age 10 years and over, 84.7% were connected. The proportion of individuals connected increased in all age groups researched. For 60 year olds and over, it went from 44.8% to 57.5%, the highest proportional growth among those surveyed.
And for the first time ever, more people used the Internet to chat via voice or video calls (95.7%) compared to sending or receiving text, voice or image messages through applications other than e-mail (94.9%).
