The Brazilian government is the most digital in the Americas
The Brazilian government is the most digital in the Americas, surpassing the United States and Canada, and is the seventh in the world, according to the World Bank.
Thanks to this digitalization, and with a strong fiscal policy, the government should end the year with the lowest expenditure on public servants in 26 years, the beginning of the National Treasury's historical series.
Spending on civil servants reached 4.2% of GDP in 2017 and 2020, and should drop to 3.4% by the end of 2022. More than 90,000 positions were extinguished in the federal administration and there is no longer an immediate need to hiring thanks to digitization.
Today, the Brazilian government also has the lowest number of active employees in the last 13 years, approximately 570,000, according to the Ministry of Economy. In 2019, there were 630,000 servers.
