Between January and August 2022, malaria cases in the Amazon Region dropped by 74% in the indigenous community due to efforts by the Brazilian govt through its Ministry of Health. In 2021, more than 245,000 tests were performed for the diagnosis of malaria, 15% more than in 2020.
The Brazilian government has also carried out special training for health professionals who serve the local native population. Last October, health agents who serve the Yanomami community received training from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, a world reference in tropical medicine.
