Foreign investment in Brazil reached its highest value in almost two years. In the first five months of 2022, Brazil received US$ 39.7 billion, a rise of 52% compared to the resources received in the same period of 2021, and the highest value for the period in the last 11 years.
Brazil holds 4th place in the ranking of foreign direct investment in 2022 according to the OECD's 1st quarter report. Brazil also ranked 4th globally in 2021 with a balance of US$ 50 billion, indicating positive growth prospects for Brazil in coming years.
The balance of foreign investments received by Brazil in 2021 was the highest as a proportion of GDP when considering the 15 largest economies in the World Bank ranking - yet another sign of structural recovery in the Brazilian economy. The proportion in Brazil was 3.15%.
Last May, the net inflow of funds was US$ 4.5 billion, an increase of 104.5% in relation to the same month last year, when the figure was US$ 2.2 billion. In the last 12 months ending in May, direct investments reached US$ 60 billion, equivalent to 3.45% of Brazilian GDP.
