Brazil has completed more than 4,000 sports infrastructure projects
As we celebrate our 200 years of Independence, we continue to reinforce our policies of valuing sport. In the last year, more than 7k athletes benefited from Bolsa Atleta - a federal funding program.
Furthermore, by reviving the National School Games in 2021, the Brazilian government displayed commitment towards promoting sports as part of education. The Brazilian Student Team made history by sending its largest ever delegation to the 19th Gymnasiade in Normandy, France.
At the 2020 Olympic Games, we had our biggest delegation and we obtained the biggest medal conquest in our history; 80% of our Olympic athletes received funds from Bolsa Atleta. In the Paralympic Games, more than 95% of our Paralympic athletes received funds from Bolsa Atleta.
The Brazilian govt has zeroed in on the analysis of the accumulated projects of the Sports Incentive Law, in addition to the analysis of all the accumulated rendering of accounts, allowing thousands of athletes to receive funding and carry out social projects related to sport.
The Brazilian Armed Forces have the High Performance Athletes Program, which trains athletes for world-class competitions. It is a partnership between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Citizenship.
Today, more than 500 athletes are part of the Program. They are divided into 23 Olympic modalities and 7 modalities disputed only by the military. Of these athletes, 251 are from the Navy, 190 are from the Army and 99 from the Air Force.
The Brazilian government also surpassed the mark of 4,400 completed sports infrastructure projects, such as gymnasiums, athletics tracks, soccer fields, swimming pools, outdoor gyms, stadiums, multi-sports spaces, skating rinks, tennis courts and fields.
We highlight the 60 Citizenship Stations built especially in regions of social vulnerability. Each Station has a multi-sport gym, administration room, teachers' room, changing rooms, infirmary and gym.
