The Solos Vivos Brasil Program was created by the Brazilian government to articulate public and private resources in the fight against soil degradation, promote the exchange of best practices and stimulate sustainable public policies for agriculture and livestock.
In this way, Brazil guaranteed its participation in the Solos Vivos Americas Program, which aims to ensure the ability of Latin America and the Caribbean to sustainably meet the world demand for food, in addition to transforming agricultural systems into ecosystems.
Another objective of Solos Vivos Brasil is to promote pioneering actions for the conservation and restoration of degraded soils and pastures in the country. Programs such as Pronasolos, Águas do Agro and the ABC+ Plan are relevant in this context.
Pronasolos is the largest information platform on soils in the tropical world, which gathers information from institutions on Brazilian soils, with exclusive maps of water availability and regions most susceptible to erosion.
The Águas do Agro Program seeks to promote sustainable economic development and use of water in rural areas, encouraging the adoption of conservation practices.
The ABC+ Plan aims to spread low-carbon technologies to more than 72 million hectares of arable land by 2030, without the need to convert new areas into productive activity
