The New Solid Waste Legal Framework transforms garbage into clean energy

The Brazilian government is at the forefront of transforming waste into renewable energy and new raw materials. With the sanction of the New Solid Waste Framework, garbage will become a new frontier for green investments.

The environmental program Lixão Zero (Zero Dumps) has already closed about 20% of the dumps across the country, now the New Framework brings legal security for the private sector to recycle and transform solid waste into clean energy.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, has already carried out the first energy auction from solid waste, guaranteeing investments of more than R$ 500 million.
