Engaged in the transition to a low carbon economy, the Brazilian government held the 1st meeting of the current Interministerial Committee on Climate Change and Green Growth (CIMV), with the pledge to ratify the commitments made by Brazil in #COP26.
The first meeting was held last month, and they will now have a permanent character. Among the issues discussed, the highlights were Brazil's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in 2030 compared to 2005 and the establishment of guidelines for a National Strategy for Climate Neutrality.
The CIMV is composed of members of the federal government, public and private entities, and personalities with notorious knowledge on the subject. The committee's purpose is to determine directives, as well as to articulate and coordinate the implementation of public actions and policies related to climate change.
